Childbirth Classes for BIPOC, POC, or LGBTQ+ Families
There is not a right way to give birth.
Each and every person welcoming a baby navigates the journey a bit differently. That is what has always and will always keep birth a mystery. Finding the right childbirth class is one way you can practice making decisions based on your values. By gathering information and sitting with the options to ensure that you make the decision that is right or you. This is a process that you will do over, and over, and over in pregnancy, birth, and parenting.
The change to online classes offers more options.
One HUGE perk of all childbirth classes being forced to go online has been greater access and availability for all families. With these classes now within reach for everyone, no matter where you are currently living, I am happy to refer BIPOC, POC, and LGBTQ+ families to childbirth educators that are offering workshops specifically for those communities.
If you would like to learn more about classes that might fit your needs even better than a Birthing From Within class at Thresholds,
We are pleased to share the following information with you:
- Erika Davis has designed classes that are centered around people who are often underrepresented in childbirth education at
- Trans & queer centered courses are available at Moss the Doula and at Maia Midwifery in Seattle.
- Davinah Simmons offers private Birthing From Within classes for Black birthing people.
From the very beginning
At Thresholds we offer Birthing From Within childbirth classes. These classes naturally lend themselves to be inclusive. This happens because they help each family turn to their history, intuition, values and hopes, versus infusing families with a specific way to birth. We believe that it is important that all childbirth instructors use language. It is also important to teach from a place that centers the expecting parent’s own unique experience. Over the years we have served families from a wide range of diversity and are excited that more and more classes are available that support specific communities.
So, we will continue to support all families who wish to attend our workshops and we hope that you find the classes that are just right for you.
If you have any questions please feel free to reach out.
