Why Take a Birthing From Within Childbirth Class

Comfortable classroom at Thresholds

Why Birthing From Within?

You want your birth to be the best experience possible. We all know that birth can not be planned out from start to finish, however, you can do a lot to make your birth a pretty amazing experience.

Birthing From Within childbirth preparation is the bridge between the medical events of childbirth and the other end of the spectrum that sees birth as a purely spiritual event that you will look back fondly over for years to come.

The truth is that (like it or not) every birth is part medical and part emotional. Birthing From Within will help your family be open to the full spectrum of possibilities and build confidence navigating between the medical and emotional sides of birth. It will fill in the gaps, enabling you to stop thinking you don’t know enough, and start using your own wisdom (along with medical recommendations) to make decisions that are inline with your family values.

Childbirth impacts each parent in different ways. The hands-on nature of Birthing From Within are designed for the pregnant parent AND the supporting partner/s to gain insight that will allow them to do what is needed in childbirth and still be a supportive and understanding part of the team.

Thresholds offers Birthing From Within classes year round to support families in the Puget Sound area. There are also a number of mentors who offer in-home private sessions, or online video sessions.

There are also two books that will give you a great foundation if you wish to learn the Birthing From Within techniques in a self-paced, home study. The original book was published more than 20 years ago. The founder of Birthing From Within, Pam England publishes an expanded and updated version called Ancient Map for Modern Birth. The new book can be found online and is also available at the Seattle Public Library.
