Karen Stocker Facilitator
On a daily basis, my work is very interesting and inspiring to me! People tell me their stories, their hopes; they're daring to investigate change, exploring and discovering strengths and resources. Any moment might actually be my most interesting and inspiring moment!
I am continually humbled and inspired by a lifetime of learning, I come to the work of Facilitation from a background as longtime Seattle area Artist-in-Residence and Public Artist in schools, prisons and hospitals, and Family-Systems-trained Washington State Certified Counselor in private practice.
I first experienced Constellations (to my great joy and amazement!) almost two decades ago. I have cherished the privilege to study with Dietrich Weth and then, in ever-greater depth, with the profoundly gifted and stunningly generous Francesca Mason Boring, my main Constellation Teachers.
Over the past 20 years it has been fascinating to study the Family Constellations and also Internal Family Systems parts work, and to see how those processes can unlock things for people. While facilitating constellations, or representing in constellations facilitated by others I am aways looking for the new wisdom that comes forward to the group. Everyone seems to find the exact thing they needed!
I speak Spanish and have two grown children, great favorites of mine! I make art, sing, garden, and look for ways to try to repay the incomparable kindness of my longtime Meditation Teachers, my parents who gave me Life, and this Beautiful Earth.
Along with leading Family Constellations evening and day long workshops I also see individuals and families in my private therapy practice in North Seattle.
With love, respect, gratitude and best wishes in these times, Karen
CURIOUS? Here are a few Q & A.
Q. IN ADDITION TO FAMILY CONSTELLATIONS WHAT OTHER TYPES OF WORK DO YOU DO?
I think I encountered Constellations about twenty years ago, and I am now 65...so before that I did a lot! And still do. I feel lucky though, to have run into constellations while my kids were still growing in my home. I have worked as a portrait sculptor, a public artist and Artist in Residence in Schools and prisons, and a Family Systems trained therapist in private practice
Q. WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO OUTSIDE OF WORK?
I'm in love with plants, water, soil and light. I care deeply about my community. I paint things and crochet hats. I have to meditate and pray and sing so I don't lose my everlivin mind. I also love sleep very much! And my friends and family.
Q. WHAT IS THE MOST INTERESTING THING YOU HAVE DONE IN YOUR CAREER?
I did find it very interesting and very moving to have the opportunity to work for twelve years in Inpatient Psychiatric over in West Seattle, bringing clay to people in psychiatric crisis and also making murals out of the artwork they offered. I loved working at Consejo, and then making the big mural in their waiting room.
"Her facilitation is phenomenological in orientation, allowing her to honor the wisdom of, and respect the internal authority all participants."
"I treasure working with Karen and the group as we share this powerful experience of witnessing, participating, and deep listening together."
